Voluntary sector and community groups

We do not normally accept requests for advice from members of the public. However, on a limited range of issues, we can provide advice to some organisations in the not-for-profit sector on public law issues. In order to access advice on such an issue please email us from this link. Please note that unless you set out clearly the status of your organisation and the issue on which you are seeking advice, you will not get a response.

Alternatively you can phone us on the Specialist support service. Please note that this service is for community or voluntary sector organisations who are seeking advice on a public law issue that affects them, or for advocacy or advice agencies who are seeking advice on a public law issue for a client or client group. We do not take calls from individuals seeking advice on their own account.

We also advise publicly funded voluntary sector organisations under our Empowering the Voluntary Sector project, which has a dedicated advice line through which PLP lawyers can provide detailed legal advice on public law issues, with the facility to take on particular cases. For more detail, please go to the Empowering the voluntary sector page.

You may also find some of our advice sheets of help.
