London Area Strategic Support

The Public Law Project (PLP) is funded by Trust for London to provide public law strategic support to improve the lives of disadvantaged Londoners.

PLP can use this funding to engage with community groups and charities representing disadvantaged Londoners, and to tackle systemic maladministration affecting people in the London area.

Engaging with community groups

We would like to hear from community groups and grassroots organisations that would benefit from an increased understanding of how public law can help them.  This is not just about using public law in litigation but passing on understanding of how public bodies should behave, what individuals and groups who work with public bodies can expect of them, and how to drive policy change once unfair or illegal practice has been identified. 

We may be able to:

Tackling systemic maladministration

We will be particularly keen to assist in circumstances in which public bodies repeatedly fail in their duties or repeat the same mistakes to the detriment of disadvantaged groups. 

We call this type of repeat failure ‘systemic maladministration’ and can work with advice agencies to tackle it in a systematic fashion. We may be able to:
