Freedom of Information Act - an introduction
This course is a one-hour seminar which covers the following:
- How to make a FOIA request
- Who is covered and what you can ask for
- The exemptions: public interest and absolutes
- Refusals and how to appeal
- The Information Commissioner
- The Information Tribunal
The seminar will cover the legislative framework and how the FOIA is working in practice, with practical examples. It is suitable for solicitors and caseworkers.
This seminar will be led by one of PLP’s lawyers, and carries 1 CPD point. If there are many participants, or if further practical case studies are wanted, it can be extended to one and a half or two hours (and corresponding CPD).
